Updates from the Board

Dear Families,

We are writing with deep appreciation and a heavy heart to share that the Board of Directors of the Chattahoochee Valley Learning Resource Center (CVLRC) has voted to close and formally dissolve the organization. Zumbini is a seperate business that will continue through August 31 at CVLRC, please reach out to Jessica Wheeler, owner of this business separately for any additional updates.

This was not a decision made lightly, but it is one we believe to be necessary. While CVLRC has always been a community rooted in care, we have determined that we can no longer continue operating without key infrastructure and sustainable financial support.

Financial Transparency & Refunds

As part of the formal dissolution process required under Georgia law, the organization must:

We want to be honest in sharing that our current financial resources are extremely limited. While we are working to finalize an exact accounting, it is unlikely that we will be able to offer full or even partial reimbursement to every family.

That said, you will be given the opportunity to submit a formal claim if you believe you are owed money. This ensures your information is included in the organization’s final financial records and in compliance with our legal dissolution process. More information on how to submit a claim will be shared in the coming days. If any funds or assets remain, per our legal requirements and bylaws, we would forward them to another local non-profit in continuation of our mission.

What Comes Next

We are currently working to complete the official steps required for nonprofit dissolution in the state of Georgia. This process includes notifying all stakeholders, settling outstanding obligations, and reporting to both the Georgia Secretary of State and the IRS.

In preparation for our dissolution, we must responsibly distribute the items inside our center, which include couches, furniture, toys, and other resources.

Donors of loaned items (given temporarily) will be contacted directly and offered the opportunity to reclaim their property by August 24.

All other items will be sold in a Virtual Auction on Zeffy. This sale will be open to members and the public.

Check back for details on the sale dates, times and location.

Unfortunately, membership credits cannot be applied toward purchases. All proceeds from the sale will go toward paying our outstanding debts and fulfilling our legal obligations as we close.

Any items that remain unsold will be donated to another local nonprofit organization that aligns with CVLRC’s mission.

We will continue to communicate transparently and compassionately with families and supporters throughout this process. Our priority is to bring this chapter to a close with the same care, respect, and integrity that guided our founding.

We are deeply grateful to you for trusting us with your children and for being part of the CVLRC community. It has been our honor to serve you.

With gratitude,
The CVLRC Board of Directors
